Here is a look at what you can expect to learn in the GB1 Adult Fundamentals Program. Every week, the curriculum changes, as is provided by GB Online. Each class in the week can have differences from the previous day, with slight variations, or alternatives to the other classes. This allows you to learn the technique from different use cases and scenarios, to allow for maximum retention.
INTRODUCTION, BASIC TECHNIQUES, and CONCEPTS
- Introduction to the Gracie Barra philosophy, instructors, and community.
- Focus on fundamental movements like hip escapes, bridging, break-falls, stance and posture.
- Introduction to essential self-defense techniques including self-confidence, verbal commands, distance management, throws, sweeps, frames, and submissions.
- Practicing common positions such as standing, mount, S-mount, technical mount, side control, closed guard, lasso guard, open guard, spider guard, and De La Riva.
- Partner drills to enhance muscle memory and understanding of techniques.
- Specific training to apply learned techniques on a partner with resistance in a controlled environment.
- Understanding Fitness & listening to your body: Jiu-Jitsu provides a different type of cardiovascular and strength experience than running on the treadmill, or weight-lifting.
